My dad was an actor, then he was a TV weatherman and hosted a live weekday kids’ show and since then he’s worked for the Missouri Bankers Association.

He’s great.

He was in one of Del Close’s improv groups, The Chicago Extension, in— I believe I have the year correct— 1971, in Chicago. This is a poster for that group (his picture is top row, 2nd from left, and second row 3rd from right).

When I was a kid, I would hear the name “Del Close” every now and then, like if American Graffiti was on TV or something. Then when I was 33 I started taking improv classes and now it all makes a weird kind of sense.

Here are two clips from my dad’s days on KRCG-TV 13 (Jefferson City, MO):

My dad interviews one of The Harlem Globetrotters.

Me appearing on my dad’s show. I think I’m eight here. (The microphone doesn’t work at first, don’t adjust your volume.)
