Elvis Costello & The Attractions on Top Of The Pops in 1984, miming to their new single, “I Wanna Be Loved.”
Notable for two things: 1- Costello takes off his glasses, and 2- Pete Thomas would get them all in trouble for miming a drum fill on his head at the end, thus “giving away” that they weren’t playing live. One would think this would be obvious from the way it sounds exactly like the album version despite Costello frequently “singing” nowhere near the microphone.
