Here’s an exciting discovery: the original art for an extra-long Peanuts strip that was done by Charles M. Schulz for the July 22, 1958 issue of Look Magazine and apparently never reprinted since then.
Oh look: never-reprinted Peanuts strip from 1958. Schulz uses the extra panels to really drive home the point that Charlie Brown’s life is depressing.
Charlie Brown’s best friend is younger than him and already has his shit together in ways that CB never will. And from this strip, it’s clear that he doesn’t even THINK OF Linus as a friend. (“Snoopy, I guess you’re the only pal I’ve got…”)
How sad is that?
